Five Slidell residents were cited on Saturday for alleged migratory
game bird violations in Orleans Parish.
Agents from the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries cited
David Marshall, 55; Charles Efferson, 49; Michael Landry, 42; Robert
Landry, 52; and a juvenile for allegedly hunting over bait.
Robert Landry also was cited for an unplugged gun. Michael Landry was
cited for hunting with lead shot, and the juvenile was cited for over
limit of scaup.
The citations came after agents received an anonymous tip through the
new
Tip411 smart phone app about possible illegal hunting activity in the
Lake Catherine area. Agents investigated and found several baited ponds.
A total of 36 ducks were seized.
LDWF launched the Tip41 program in late September as part of their
Operation Game Thief program, which may offer a cash reward for
information leading to arrests or convictions.
To use the Tip411 program, citizens can text LADWF and their tip to
847411 or download the “LADWF Tips” iPhone app for free. Senders cannot
be identified.
Citizens also can call the Operation Game Thief hotline at
800-442-2511.
