Goose hunter's gun seized, charges lodged
January 27, 2012
From MyWebTimes.com
A felon from Ottawa is facing charges connected to goose hunting.
Michael W. Jessen, 26, 1846 W. Champlain St., was charged
Wednesday with possession of a weapon by a felon. Conservation
police arrested Jessen on a warrant the same day and took him to the
La Salle County Jail, where he was released after $1,500 cash bond
was posted. Conservation Police Sgt. Robert Frazier said
Jessen was in a goose hunting party Jan. 15 at the eastern end of La
Salle Lake near the Exelon nuclear plant, carrying a .12 gauge
shotgun. As a felon, Jessen is prohibited from having or handling
guns. The gun was seized. Jessen also was charged with hunting
waterfowl without state and federal stamps, and without registering
with the National Migratory Bird Harvest Information Program.
Jessen has been in prison for a heroin offense.
