Alaska Wildlife Troopers deployed an artificial black bear set-up
to decoy scofflaws on a relatively out-of-the-way part of Prince of
Wales Island, near Klawock.
Troopers report observing on
Monday, May 21, that the fake bear enticed 40-year-old Thomas
Skripps of Acton, Mass., to shoot at it from Coffman Road.
Skripps was cited for illegally attempting to take a black bear by
discharging a firearm from a roadway. Bail was set at $300 in Craig
District Court.
