IA: Herreid man fined, put on probation for federal hunting violations

SIOUX FALLS (AP) Ronald Mittleider, of Herreid, pleaded guilty to allowing hunters at his lodge to shoot more pheasants than legally allowed. He also admitted shooting and killing a hawk and an owl.
 
Mittleider will be on unsupervised federal probation for a year and he was fined $500 and ordered to pay the South Dakota Game, Fish and Parks department $20,000 in civil damages.
