LAGRANGE, Ind. (WANE) - Two Fort Wayne men were cited by an
Indiana Conversation Officer with hunting deer by the aid of bait.
Richard Balser 23, and Shane Steigerwald 29, both of Fort
Wayne, were hunting over a baited area on the Pigeon River Fish and
Wildlife Area on October 6 at around 9:30 a.m.
It is illegal
to hunt deer by the aid of bait. Bait is considered any food that is
transported and placed for consumption, including: piles of corn or
apples placed in the field, prepared solids or liquids manufactured
and intended for consumption by livestock or wild deer, including
but not limited to salt or mineral supplements.
