NY: Violations caught in the act

May 10, 2014

From RegisterStar.com

Two Vermont hunters spent some time in Columbia County Jail on Friday and are facing several charges stemming from an early morning turkey hunt.

Arrested and charged were Brandon S. Mattison, and Justin J. Bassler, both 22.

Mattison was charged with unlawfully purchasing a New York state hunting license, failing to tag the turkey he killed in Canaan, and taking a turkey without a small-game license.

Bassler was arrested and charged with trespassing, because allegedly he was hunting on private property without permission, and with shooting within 500 feet of a dwelling.
