Here are highlights from Minnesota Department of Natural Resources Conservation Officer (CO) reports for the week ending April 17, 2017.

In the Bemidji area, CO Brice Vollbrecht took a report of a person shooting from a motor vehicle on a township road. The vehicle was stopped and it was determined that the individuals were transporting a loaded firearm and had shot a porcupine from the vehicle.

CO Mitch Lawler (Alexandria) took a call about a turkey hunter who was shooting at turkeys from the road near a house. Enforcement action was taken for shooting within 500 feet of an occupied dwelling.

In the Mille Lacs area, CO Scott Fitzgerald took calls about dumped deer and beaver carcasses.

CO Kyle Hill (Zumbrota) reported that during a check, he saw a large pool of fresh blood in the bed of a truck. The hunters admitted they had shot a tom together. One hunter did not have a turkey license and the other failed to tag the bird.
