Hey Jew Don’t be Afraid
God said in Isaiah 31:34 that your sins and iniquities I will remember no more. He is committed to you and us. Read on. The New Year is the time to establish first things for the year. In the Jewish Scriptures, the Jewish New Year is when you prioritize these first things and Jewish scriptures indicate these first things belong to the Lord. In the Word of God, some of these offerings are delineated. If you are just getting acquainted with the ways of God under Orthodox Jewish practice, and you live in America, you might consider our first month of the New Year, until you are more familiar with Jewish teaching. You must study the Word of God, to understand what those first things ought to be. In those Jewish scriptures, God has many wonderful and descriptive names. God is a Spirit. One of His names is “I AM,” or the Eternal Existing One. God is immortal, eternal and invisible.

A good understanding of what pleases the Creator is a key to what the sacred text calls your “first fruits” and these comprise some of these first things. Knowing God is necessary for giving Him pleasure. This is a requirement before He can bless or make us happy. The inspired word says, “Happy are the people whose God is the LORD!” (Psalm 144:15) We don’t need anything costly to enter His courts: a simple praise and a heart of thanksgiving is all He requires. Psalms says a song will greatly please Him. (Psalm 69:30-31)
From the days of the first man on Earth, God wanted humanity to give God His full attention, adoration, and honor. Anything less than this was a failure on the part of man. When Adam fell, God had already prepared the beginning of the means by which He would restore Adam and Eve into God’s circle of restoration and relationship.
A loving relationship is a primary issue that Our Heavenly Father, like most fathers, cares tremendously about. He cares that way about you, but you possibly don’t comprehend the complex dilemma He faces because while He even loves all those who have erred and sinned, by listening to the Evil one, God by His perfection, holiness, and integrity, hates sin! He must deal with sin.
Under Jewish law, I would have been stoned to death by the time I reached the age of bar mitzvah! But to the glory of God, even the Jewish Text asks, “What is God’s name and what is His Son’s name, if you can tell?” (Proverbs 30:4e)
There is an incredible word in the New Testament called justification and to be justified by the Son of God means to be reckoned “just as if I’d never sinned.” That is about as forgiven as we can get, since, “All have sinned and come short of the glory of God!” (Romans 3:23) What He did for me He will absolutely do for anyone. “Whosoever will may come to Him.” Satan tried to destroy me, but God and His Grace set me free from sin and its penalty, and through His Son, filled me with His Holy Spirit so Christ Jesus the Messiah, could live in me as the Spirit and He could obey all He purposed, when alone I could do nothing.
When Jesus said to Jewish leaders, “When I knew your Father Abraham,” those leaders mocked Him, “Listen to this man. He is not yet thirty years old, and claims to have known Abraham!” Jesus responded, “Before Abraham was, I AM.” John said, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. And the Word was made flesh and dwelt among us.” (John 1:1,14) Jesus claimed He and His Father were One and God said, “In Jesus dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily and of His fullness have we (followers of Christ) all received, and grace for grace.” (Colossians 2:9 & John 1:16) That must be true, for I am a sinner saved by Grace and Mercy. Jesus also said, “If you do not believe I am the Messiah you will die in your sins.” (Acts 3:23) The gift of God is eternal life in the person of His Son. Choose Him and there will be joys forever more along with the suffering that you may experience because until you have experienced Him as your Messiah you cannot understand how great is our God.
I cry when I recall some of what I have caused on the Earth in my rebellion, disobedience, and ignorance, yet not by me, but through me, I have seen the dead raised, the terminally ill healed, the suicidal enjoying life again, those experiencing murderous threats delivered, the spells of witchcraft broken, hearts restored in happiness and the lost recovered. What I like best is that I have seen people reconciled to God and through that transformed. I have seen miracles beyond measure yet I claim the truth, that I am nothing. Jesus did it all.
I mentioned there was an old covenant called the Jewish Law and a new covenant also called the New Testament in Jesus’ blood. I have nothing to do with the old covenant even though Jacob and Israel have given me much in heading me to the throne of God and His Anointed.
The Old Testament means the Old Covenant and the New Testament means the New Covenant. Sometimes in the Old Testament when God made a covenant with man, an innocent animal was sacrificed. Today such sacrifices are rejected by God for Christ the Messiah took all of our sins upon Himself and paid the ultimate price for them. They are paid in full. Jesus said, “It is finished.” Those innocent animals represented the innocent Savior, Jesus Christ. Sometimes those animals, under the Old Covenant, were cut into pieces and the one with whom the covenant was made walked often with God or His angels between the pieces of the innocent. That is what He calls us to do. There are many pieces to the Lord Jesus Christ (I don’t mean physically) and He will acquaint us with all of them as we study to be approved. Some of these things are restoration, transformation, reconciliation and becoming a new creature in Him. If you don’t know Christ you can’t enjoy what God had purposed for us since the beginning of the world. Once our guilt is replaced and once our sorrow is turned to joy and once our grief is turned to gladness, you will definitely understand God is a miraculous God, just ask Pharaoh at the Exodus.
When John the Baptist was baptizing, a voice spoke out of the cloud and said like a blast of a trumpet, “This is my beloved Son in whom I am well pleased, hear ye Him.” (Matthew 17:5)
I want everyone on the planet who reads this to realize that Jesus is the answer, that what He speaks to us through His Word in the New Testament is there for us to obey because we love God for His great gift of salvation through His Son. In the message delivered by the angel of the Lord to Jesus Christ and given to the Church in Philadelphia we hear how God is pleased by doing two first things: keeping His Word in the New Testament and remembering the name of His Son so we can do whatsoever we do in His name: Jesus. It is the only name whereby we must be saved from the forces of deception and destruction. Beyond this, remember Jerusalem.
I say to any world leader that hears this message, the Book of Psalms says, “If I forget you, O Jerusalem, let my tongue cleave to the roof of my mouth and my hands forget what they are trying to accomplish.” (Psalm 137:5-6) Jerusalem was and is the capital of Israel. Anyone who fights against that is fighting against God and God shall win. There is no one on this planet who can maintain their credibility, life or purpose, when fighting against the Almighty. God says that Israel is His land and Jerusalem, the place where He has put His name and from whence Christ shall rule the earth. You may be laughing now if you oppose this but the day will come when you are shivering in your boots and the ransomed of the Lord shall return and come to Zion with singing for they are receiving right now a Kingdom and a government from Heaven which shall reign on the earth forever and all creation shall rest under His wings. (Isaiah 35:10) Shalom!
