1. Possible CJD Epidemic:  As a result of the consumption years ago of beef contaminated with mad cow disease, BSE, the UK faces the possibility of a major epidemic of lethal brain disease according to Britain's leading expert on vCJD, or "human BSE", Prof. John Collinge of University College London. He believes that only people who are genetically susceptible have contracted the disease so far, although there is evidence the disease could silently incubate in a person for many decades, without any symptoms. 2. "Let your food be your medicine, and your medicine be your food." ~ Hippocrates, the father of medicine

3. Are We Close to a Bird Flu Pandemic According to scientist Dr. Yoshihiro Kawaoka of the University of Wisconsin-Madison the H5N1 virus, commonly known as the bird flu, has already mutated and thus has the possibility of developing in the upper respiratory systems of humans, which could easily increase the chances of the virus spreading from one person to another. Dr. Kawaoka refers to samples taken from birds in Africa and Europe, which show mutations that resemble human viruses. Dr. Kawaoka’s report was published in the Public Library of Science journal PLoS Pathogens. To read the full article please visit Scientists: bird flu mutation sets stage for bird flu pandemic

Exploiting God’s animals for profit and taste has only brought misery to Creation. Factory farmed animals are raised under extreme confinement, fear and pain, making disease transmittal more likely. We can show respect and reverence for God’s Creation by adopting a pant-based diet than can help us reduce animal suffering and restore our health.

4. Psalm 119:105 - "Thy word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path."

Following Jesus’ teachings helps us live according to God’s will and reflect His/Her love for all Creation.

5. Favorable Changes in the WIC Program:  The Women, Infants and Children program (WIC) has been revised to better meet the nutritional needs of the 8.5 million people it serves. The USDA announced that tofu and soy beverages, along with fruits, vegetables and whole grains have been added, while the amounts of milk, cheese, and eggs it permits have been reduced. The changes were based on suggestions made by the Institute of Medicine. To read the full article please visit WIC food program being overhauled

6. Good Habits that Help in Cancer Prevention:  According to a report from the World Cancer Research Fund, a third of cancers are caused by diet and lack of exercise, and could be prevented by staying trim, eating mostly plant-based foods, such as fruit and vegetables, and avoiding red and processed meats. Smoking also must be avoided and people should exercise at least 3 times a week. To read the full article please visit Stay trim and stop eating bacon, cancer report declares
