1. FDA Sued Over Antibiotic Overuse Review

About 70% of all the antibiotics in America are given to factory farmed animals in order to promote their growth and keep them alive in filthy, hyper-confined conditions. The undeniable and obvious consequence has been the emergence of antibiotic-resistant bacteria. Therefore, the Natural Resources Defense Council, Union of Concerned Scientists, and other health and science groups filed suit this past week against the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for allowing factory farms to continue with this irresponsible and unethical practice. This coalition lawsuit "will force the FDA to pull its head out of the sand and address this serious threat to public health now." For decades, the FDA and the corporations that own factory farms have been gambling with human health for the sole purpose of profit and power. It is time that consumers take a stand for their own health, the environment and the unnecessary abuse of sentient beings, and stop supporting the animal agriculture industry. I think consumers can produce a more effective outcome than the FDA with its invested interest in the industry.

2. This Week’s Famous Quote

Flesh-eating by humans is unnecessary, irrational, anatomically unsound, unhealthy, unhygienic, uneconomic, unaesthetic, unkind and unethical. May I elaborate?

Helen Nearing, Simple Food for the Good Life

3. Gorillas’ Diet Helps Understand Human Diet

Researchers and nutritionist believe that the diets of the great apes in the wild (gorillas, chimpanzees and orangutans) may provide insights into the nature of the foods that hominoids evolved to eat and that have shaped human nutrient requirements for health. This article describes a research study of gorillas in the wild indicating that a diet with virtually no cholesterol, high in fiber and high in plant protein seems to be the ideal diet for hominoids. Eden was vegan (Genesis 1:29-31)! As the Bible tells us, God’s ideal plan for us included a non-violent diet, as depicted in the Garden of Eden and in several prophecies, such as Isaiah 11:6–9, where he foresees a return to this vegetarian world, where the wolf, lamb, lion, cow, bear, snake, and little child all coexist peacefully. Christians should strive to live a life conducive to the healing and reconciliation of God’s Creation.

4. This Week’s Bible Verse

(RSV) 2 Corinthians 13:11

Finally, brethren, farewell. Mend your ways, heed my appeal, agree with one another, live in peace, and the God of love and peace will be with you.

There can be no restoration or peace if there's exploitation in God's Creation! We are all made in the essence of God's love and we have the choice to cause suffering and pain, and thus create conflict, or to reflect God's love onto all Creation and bring peace into the world.

5. A Book for Pre-Vegans and Vegans!

6. This Week’s Video – Meals for Health Program

EarthSave founder and acclaimed author John Robbins, speaks in this video about EarthSave's groundbreaking Meals for Health program, a 30-day intervention program where low-income people are taught to eat a healthy plant-based diet, and in the process lose weight and reverse serious chronic illnesses.

John Robbins beautifully and clearly explains how a plant-based diet brings healing, peace, love, compassion, harmony, justice and restoration into a world that has gone astray but that is finding its way back. In his own words: "We are all connected." Please visit John Robbins on Meals for Health Program and share with friends and family:
