1. CAFO’s Cause Devastation
Read about the journey of 6 people who decide to take a trip through an area in Kentucky were many factory farms are concentrated. The travelers learn about the incredible pollution and environmental devastation these confined animals feeding operations cause as well as the unimaginable suffering of the animals imprisoned in them.

Please visit The Tour de Stench:
How has humanity reached a point where God’s animals are simple commodities to be exploited to our benefit; and where planet Earth, our home, is being destroyed systematically by our desire for taste, profit and power? There’s still hope if we open our hearts and choose to include all sentient beings in our sphere of compassion and also recognize that as stewards of God’s Creation we have a sacred responsibility to take care of the planet.

2. This Week’s Famous Quote
Your vision will become clear only when you look into your heart. Who looks outside, dreams. Who looks inside, awakens.
~ Carl Jung

3.  The Pollution Caused by Factory Farms
This is the true story of a Chinese village that upon the settlement of a pig farm its inhabitants lost their health, saw their beautiful home deteriorate and witnessed how factory farming only brings devastation for humans, animals and the environment.

Please visit China's taste for pork serves up a pollution problem :
What a clear example of why exploiting and victimizing God’s animals has tremendous negatives consequences for all of God’s Creation. By consuming animal products we are contributing to intense unnecessary human and animal suffering, while also silencing our true nature of compassion and kindness.

4. This Week’s Bible Verse
(RSV) Genesis 2:15
“The LORD God took the man and put him in the garden of Eden to till it and keep it.”
In Genesis 2:15, God instructed Adam to “till” and “keep” the Garden of Eden, and by analogy we may see caring for God’s Creation as our sacred task. The typical meat eater’s diet can require up to 14 times more water and 20 times more energy than that of a vegetarian. Indeed, current use of land, water, and energy is not sustainable; resource depletion threatens to cause hardships for humankind this century.

5. Reduce Meat Consumption to Save the Planet
Scientists are urging to reduce meat consumption at least by half in order to prevent more environmental devastation. Contemporary animal agriculture has proven to be disastrous for the planet by contributing to extensive pollution, degradation of soil, deforestation, unsustainable use of water, land and fossil fuels; and of course emission of greenhouse gases. The United Nations Environmental Program stated: “Unless action is taken, increases in pollution and per capita consumption of energy and animal products will exacerbate nutrient losses, pollution levels and land degradation, further threatening the quality of our water, air and soils, affecting climate and biodiversity.”

Please visit Halve meat consumption, scientists urge rich world:
It’s imperative that people, especially those eating the typical Western diet laden with animal products reduce their meat intake significantly, or even better, give it up altogether. Environmental devastation, unimaginable suffering for God’s animals and the already too high rates of chronic diseases should be strong motivators to show compassion to farmed animals and stop eating them. After all, what is sustainable for our bodies is sustainable for the planet.

6. Book Recommendation

Animal agriculture contributes to global warming by producing more green house gases than all transportation combined. James Lawrence Powell’s book The Inquisition of Climate Science (Columbia University Press) addresses the question “Why, when the scientific evidence for global warming is unequivocal, does only half the public accept the evidence?”
