2. This Week’s Famous Quote

The more helpless the victim, the greater the crime.

~ Dr. Gerald Curtler

3.  Slaughterhouse Horror

Slaughterhouses have been in the spotlight many times in just the last few years for their egregious abuse to animals. According to the Humane Slaughter Act --under which poultry is not covered-- animals should be slaughtered in a way “that causes a minimum of excitement, pain, injury, or discomfort.” However, numerous undercover videos by animal activists and workers, and reports by inspectors show that animals continue to experience abuse, pain, suffering and fear.

Slaughterhouse: house of slaughter. Just the name should drive us away from having such places in God’s Creation.

4. This Week’s Bible Verse

1 Timothy 4:7-8

Have nothing to do with godless and silly myths. Train yourself in godliness; for while bodily training is of some value, godliness is of value in every way, as it holds promise for the present life and also for the life to come.

How can we train in godliness? By following the Faith of Christ, which is centered on compassion, mercy and love toward all of God’s creatures.

5. Why NOT Pork

These are 6 very convincing reasons to avoid eating pigs: very sick animals used in food production, filth in slaughterhouses where the meat gets contaminated, devastation that hog farms cause on the environment, dangerous drugs in the meat, emergence of new diseases and egregious animal cruelty.

To learn about all these issues in detail please visit 6 Horrifying Things About Pork Everyone Should Know:

Everything comes down to showing compassion and love to our fellow beings. After all, we could prevent so much suffering, devastation and disease simply by looking at our food choices in a critical and mindful way. Only then we realize that supporting the unnecessary abuse and killing of God’s animals leads to nothing that would honor God or ourselves.

6. This Weeks Video
