1. Vegan Essentials

There are some food items that vegans discover they love to have in their shopping cart.

Visit 10 Essentials You Will Find in a Vegan Grocery Cart and learn what they are and why we love them so much!

2. Famous Quote

To cultivate kindness is a valuable part of the business of life.
—Samuel Johnson, English author (1709–1784)

3. Benefits of a Veg Diet

The health benefits of a well-balanced plant-based diet are more obvious to people than the non-health benefits. Here are 5 of them that go beyond health: it helps conserve water, it helps protect the atmosphere, it saves animals, it encourages kindness and it is an act of truth.

Please visit 5 Benefits of a Plant-Based Diet That Have Nothing to do with Health

Plant-based diets are good for all of God’s Creation because they promote healing, restoration and reconciliation. Transitioning to a veg diet is good stewardship of our bodies, God’s animals and the planet. It’s a win-win situation!

4. Bible Verse

(RSV) Matthew 5:7

"Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy."
Animal agriculture is an industry that cannot possibly show mercy to animals. By the same token, anyone who supports this industry (when having the choice not to) is not showing mercy to farmed animals, either. Therefore, if we truly want to be obedient to God and show mercy to all creatures, adopting a plant-based diet should be an unavoidable step.

5. Meat As Bad As Cigarettes

A new study published in “Cell Metabolism” indicates that middle-age people who eat a diet heavy on animal protein are more likely to die of cancer than those who eat a low-protein diet. Similar rates were found on smokers vs. non-smokers.

Please visit Meat, dairy may be as detrimental to your health as smoking cigarettes, study says.

It’s great that more studies such as the one above raise awareness about the dangers of eating God’s animals. So, if eating these creatures causes disease and not eating them seems to be healthful… why eat them at all? Let’s choose compassion to God’s animals and to our bodies.

6. This Week’s Video: Nathan Brown, CEO of “Beyond Meat”
