1. Veg Diets Are Healthful

According to a study published in Public Health Nutrition researchers tracked the dietary habits of 592 African-American participants from the Adventist Health Study-2 and concluded that vegetarians and vegans have fewer heart disease risk factors including lower blood pressure, half the risk of diabetes, 44 percent and are 43 percent less likely to be obese, compared with non-vegetarians.

Well-balanced plant-based diet are healthful, sustainable and less abusive to our fellow Earthlings. Transitioning to a vegan diet is a essential step in order to be good stewards of our bodies.

2. Famous Quote

“Billions are spent searching for drugs and other material means to cure what is actually an ethical and spiritual disease. Sowing disease and death in animals at our mercy, we reap the same in ourselves.

Much of medical research today is actually an apparently desperate quest to find ways to continue eating animal foods and to escape the consequences of our cruel and unnatural practices. Do we really want to be successful in this?”

~ Dr. Will Tuttle, The World Peace Diet

3. David Carter on Plant-Based Diets

David Carter, defensive lineman for the Oakland Raiders, shares how beneficial plant-based diets are for one’s health and also for our fellow creatures, who are unnecessarily abused and killed when raised for food. He says, “I'm not alone in this awakening. Professional athletes from an array of sports are fueling with fruits and vegetables. Ten-time Olympic medal winner Carl Lewis proudly stated "My best performances were when I was 30 years old and I was a vegan." Smash hitter Venus Williams eats a raw vegan diet. And baseball legend Tony LaRussa loves animals so much he not only started his own animal rescue organization, but leaves them off his plate.”

It’s fantastic that more pro-athletes, like David Carter, are becoming role-models showing that plant-based diets benefit all of God’s Creation!

4. Bible Verse

(RSV) Galatians 5:22-2

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such there is no law.

This is one of the clearest verses on how we should live our lives! If our actions are motivated by love and kindness for sure we would not approve or support the unnecessary exploitation of God's farmed animals. A plant-based diet helps us show love, kindness, peace and compassion to all Creation.

5. Fed Up!

School lunches in the U.S. contribute much to the high rates of many chronic diseases such as obesity, heart-disease and diabetes. School lunches often comprise pepperoni pizza, greasy French fries and low-fat cow’s chocolate milk; all very unhealthy foods for humans, especially children. It’s time to move towards a plant-based diet and witness the tremendous benefits this brings to our children.

Please visit Fed up: Let's really move big food out of school.

The meat and dairy industries are very powerful and get to pretty much decide what foods are part of school lunches in the U.S. The Physicians Committee of Responsible Medicine is right in stating that it’s time to be fed up with this and push our congressman to provide healthier choices for our children.

6. This Week’s Video: Debunking Egg Industry Myths

Watch Dr. Greger’s video in which he explains why eggs are not part of a healthy diet. He refers to the latest meta-analysis of studies on egg consumption and heart disease risk where scientists found that even less than a single egg a day is associated with increased risk of both cardiovascular disease and diabetes.
