World’s churches concerned about the environment

Religions everywhere has something in common: the belief that humanity is steward of God’s Creation, and therefore we have a responsibility to take care of it.

A top importance issue is global warming and in the US already 85 Christian leaders have kicked off this month a campaign to mobilize religious conservatives to combat global warming. The US is responsible for one quarter of the world's emissions of carbon dioxide and uses one quarter of the world's crude oil. Martin Robra, climate change spokesman for the World Council of Churches, said the debate "must now shift from denial and delays to responsibility and remedies well within humanity's grasp."
