Christian Vegetarian Association Presents:
Take Heart!

Impact of animal agriculture on the environment

A 2006 report by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) highlights the major negative effects of livestock on the environment, such us deforestation, greenhouse gases, land degradation, pollution, and biodiversity loss.

Some of the FAO’s recommendations to mitigate livestock's threats to the environment are restoration of damaged land, sustainable intensification of livestock and feed crop production to reduce carbon dioxide emissions and better management of animal waste in industrial production units.

The most effective way to restore the health of the environment is the transition to a plant-based diet since it decreases animal waste, usage of natural resources, contamination, deforestation, global warming gasses emission, and the enormous cruelty inflicted on farm animals. Moreover, it shows good stewardship of our bodies, the temples of the Holy Spirit.
