Two Poultry Processors being Sued for Environmental Damage
Three environmental groups,
Shenandoah Riverkeeper, Potomac Riverkeeper and Waterkeeper
Alliance, filed a notice in U.S. District Court in Harrisonburg, VA,
of their intent to sue Pilgrim's Pride Corp. and Cargill Meat
Solutions Corp., poultry processors, for unlawful discharges of
waste into the North Fork of the Shenandoah River. Massive,
unexplained fish kills, increased algae presence and high
phosphorous content in the water seem to be the cause.

Taking care of the environment is a
privilege and a responsibility as God’s children. Increased water
pollution produced by modern agriculture is putting aquatic fauna
and flora in danger, as well as our health. Adopting a plant-based
diet helps reduce animal waste and therefore water contamination,
