Disposal of Dead Birds is a Concern

The California Poultry Federation expects to lose a considerable number of birds due to the high temperatures. The carcasses must be removed quickly because they attract flies and other insects that can spread disease, and the growing concern is their disposal.  Because rendering plants were unable to handle the load, county officials opened up landfills, which usually do not take animals. Apparently, turkeys are more affected because turkey operations don't typically have air conditioning, unlike chicken operations. Just last summer's heat wave killed at least 750,000 chickens and 250,000 turkeys statewide.

It’s appalling that in spite of the large number of deaths in poultry operations, agribusinesses continue raising birds in conditions that lead to suffering and death. Ignoring the plight of God’s animals shows disobedience to God and leads to hardness of heart.
