Pig Manure into Energy
Converting animal waste, in this
case pig manure, into energy seems to have brought benefits to
Ong-Arj Suwunnatee, a Thai pig farmer. He built a biogas plant that
captures the methane gas from pig manure and converts it into
electricity, saving him money and reducing the strong smell of
accumulated animal waste, which pleases his neighbors. The Ministry
of Energy has set a target of building 1,540, 100 MW bio-gas plants
by 2011.

Pig manure sweet money for Thai farmer
Reducing animal waste by turning it
into energy helps restore the environment; however, it does not
alleviate the suffering and pain to which farmed animals are
subjected. The right way to reduce animal waste is to produce less
of it by raising fewer animals. Adopting a plant-based diet not only
reduces the number of animals raised for food but also helps restore
God's Creation and our health.
