Ornish Diet Best for Heart

According to researchers who compared eight popular diets, the Ornish diet (mostly based on beans, legumes, fruits, grains and vegetables) is the best weight loss plan for heart health. The diets included in the study were: the Weight Watchers, the New Glucose Revolution, the South Beach diet, the Zone Diet, the 2005 Food Guide Pyramid, and the Atkins diet. The scoring was based on seven dietary components that strongly affect heart disease risk: fruits, vegetables, nuts and soy, ratio of white to red meat, fiber, transfat, and ratio of polyunsaturated fats to saturated fats.
