Another Case of Abuse on Egg Farm Exposed

One of the biggest egg producers in the state of California, Gemperle Enterprises, is the target of an investigation of animal abuse due to the release of an undercover video by the animal advocacy group Mercy for Animals. The video shows workers breaking the hens' wings or legs, stomping on them, and even wringing their necks but failing to kill them. "I don't think any person with a conscience or a soul can look at that video that we just saw and see that in any way, shape or form acceptable," said Democratic Assemblyman Lloyd Levine of Woodland Hills.

This widespread abuse reflects the little reverence, compassion and respect we show for animals, the result of God's creativity. As long as we keep supporting such exploitation, we are failing miserably at our sacred task of being good stewards of God's Creation.
