Cattleman Advocates Proper Care and Handling
Dan L. Gralian, President of the Nevada Cattlemen's Association,
shares his outrage about the “downer” cows being abused by employees
of the four slaughterhouses under investigation thanks to the Humane
Society of the United States (HSUS). He says that people in the
cattle industry need to take a look at their own operations and see
what they may need to do to improve their livestock handling
facilities. Above all, Gralian believes that crippled and sick cows
need to be euthanized humanely and never loaded into a truck to be
slaughtered.

While it is surprising that the President of the Nevada
Cattlemen's Association was unaware of the extent of abuse of
cattle, especially downer cows, throughout so many decades already,
it is nevertheless encouraging to see that he does not advocate the
abuse that so many others intentionally ignore and profit from
