1 Peter 5:8-9
(RSV)
Be self-controlled and
alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion
looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the
faith, because you know that your brothers throughout the world are
undergoing the same kind of sufferings.
There are plenty of temptations to throw us off the path God
wants us to follow. However, by trying our best to follow Christ’s
teachings of compassion, mercy, love and peace, we can rest assured
that we are under God’s wing.
“Be sober, be
watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring
lion, seeking some one to devour. Resist him, firm in your faith,
knowing that the same experience of suffering is required of your
brotherhood throughout the world.”
We live in a world full of temptations.
Greed, ambition, pleasure and power can drive us away from God.
Being mindful of our actions that should be driven by the teachings
of Jesus Christ, can help us resist these temptations and focus on
obeying and glorifying God.
