Environmental Destruction by Animal Agriculture
Three-fourths of all the grain grown in the US is devoted to feeding
farmed-animals. In fact, there are 86 million acres planted with corn in
the U.S. compared to 4.35 million acres planted with vegetables (a mere
5 percent of what's devoted to growing corn). This insane demand for
cheap food has helped the expansion of factory farms that now produce
almost all of the animal products in this country. This is causing
unimaginable suffering to farmed animals and serious problems to our
health. Moreover, the tremendous devastation caused by animal
agriculture is one of the worst problems humanity is facing. From air,
water and soil pollution to deforestation and global warming, industrial
agriculture itself is responsible to a wide range of environmental
problems. Please search online for The
Ecological Impacts of Animal Agriculture
We are failing miserably at our sacred role of being good stewards of
God's Creation! We are causing misery everywhere and we still continue
to fulfill our desires for taste, profit and power we no regard of what
has been lovingly entrusted to us by our Creator. There is still time to
turn things around and one way is to adopt a plant-based diet, which
helps reduce the massive cruelty on farmed animals, the degradation of
the environment and the production of animal products that sicken so
many people every day.
