Cameras in Slaughterhouses
The Food Standards Agency in Great Britain intends to set-up a
detailed plan in order to have cameras in every one of the 400
slaughterhouses in the region. Tim Smith, chief executive of this
agency said, “Where we find resistance it is from operators with
something to hide”.

It is not surprising that operators of slaughterhouses don't want
cameras around because they know that animal abuse is widespread and
that food safety is also compromised. Having cameras in
slaughterhouses will certainly reduce the incidence of animal abuse.
Hopefully, the consumer will pressure the meat industry to make this
a requirement and thus help to at least alleviate the pain and
suffering of farmed animals at the end of their lives
