Vegan Jesus statue? No thanks, says Ohio church

At Solid Rock Church in Ohio a 62-foot statue of Jesus burned down because of a lightning strike and now People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) has offered to rebuild it featuring a vegan message of compassion and mercy toward all creatures. However, officials at Solid Rock Church have declined the offer because they raise cattle and don't want to endorse PETA.

Jesus' message that we are called to embrace is one of compassion, mercy and love. However, most Christian leaders are still unwilling to take a stand for God's farmed animals that suffer unimaginable pain and fear in humanity's hands for the sole purpose of profit and taste. It is time that Christ's followers take a stand for God's Creation by adopting a plant-based diet and hopefully then leaders will follow.
