Unsanitary Conditions in Industrial Poultry Farms
This article highlights very clearly the major deficiencies of the USDA and FDA regarding this year’s egg-recall due to Salmonella contamination. It also points at the very unsanitary conditions battery-caged hens are subjected to, which ultimately affects the consumers. Although the plants in question that produced the eggs are being investigated, the USDA stated that the unsanitary conditions in these farms are very common among industrial poultry farms.

The unsanitary conditions in industrial poultry farms and the suffering they cause to hens and chicks are unknown by many consumers. However, due to the latest egg recall the news media exposed these farms to a certain extent. It is in the consumers’ hands to decide the fate of these farms by choosing to support compassion and health or cruelty and disease.
