South Korea Heavily Criticized

South Korea has been on the spotlight for burying approx. 1 million pigs alive as an attempt to control the foot and mouth disease outbreak. It still seems surreal that humanity continues to treat God's animals as commodities. Burying pigs alive is barbaric and most cruel, showing just how hardness of heart has become the norm instead of the exception. What does this example of animal abuse say about human civilization? What does it say about our morality and consciousness? Have we totally trumped ethics and compassion for the pursuit of power and profit? I think that humanity is capable to make a complete turn and to search within to find those traits innate in us that have been buried by a consumerist society, hungry to satisfy every desire, seemingly at any cost. It’s important to note that most people would not support South Korea’s actions, but by supporting the meat, egg and dairy industries, they are supporting similar atrocities against God’s animals. Following Christ's teachings of compassion, mercy, love and peace, can lead us to a mindful and fulfilling life as good stewards of God's Creation.
