The season of Lent begins today and many Christians around the
world will choose to make some sacrifice during the next 40 days in
remembrance of Jesus' sacrifice on the cross. Giving up meat might be
the best sacrifice people can make, as some religious leaders have
suggested. The Bishop of Oxford, the Rt. Rev. John Pritchard, the
Bishop of Monmouth and the Bishop of Chelmsford, the Rt. Rev. Stephen
Cottrell, are a few among many that declare that eating meat is an
spiritual issue, that it robs animals from God-given gifts, and that
it is unsustainable.

Adopting a plant-based diet might be indeed the best, most profound
choice that a person can ever make! What better way to honor our
benevolent Creator than to stop hurting and killing the sentient
beings He/She lovingly put on Earth? Transitioning to a plant-based
diet is not a sacrifice but an enjoyable, fulfilling, loving and
compassionate lifestyle.
