Is Antibiotic-Free Meat Really Healthier?

With the increasing awareness about the devastating health effects of the overuse of antibiotics in factory farmed animals, more people are choosing to pay higher prices for antibiotic-free meat.

However, a new study indicates that antibiotic-free meat harbors the same antibiotic-resistant bacteria that conventionally raised animals do.  Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), a drug-resistant form of the normally harmless S. aureus bacterium, has been found both, in conventional raised pigs and antibiotic-free raised pigs, at about the same rate.

Please visit Antibiotic-Free Meat Not Free of Drug-Resistant Bacteria:
Although people try to find a way to justify their meat eating by purchasing either less abused animals, free-range animals, grass-fed animals or in this case, antibiotic-free animals, the reality is that eating animals unnecessarily affects us spiritually, physically and emotionally. By eating animals or their by-products people are supporting the exploitation and killing of a sentient being, which goes against our inner-most values and beliefs.

NOTE: In reference to the above article about Methyl-Resistant S. aureus (MRSA), Antibiotic-Free Meat Not Free of Drug-Resistant Bacteria, new evidence indicates that MRSA may be more virulent, but Methyl-Sensitive S. aureus can also be virulent:
Is MRSA more virulent than MSSA?:
