Christian Vegetarian Association Presents:
Take
Heart!
And the Winner Is…
The NY Times has picked its winner among the finalist essays to the
contest inviting people to explain why they thought eating meat was
ethical. The winner picked by the panel of judges was Jay Bost, a
former vegan. Please visit
The Ethicist Contest Winner: Give Thanks for Meat to read his very
weak arguments. It is important to note that the chosen essay by
popular vote was Ingrid Newkirk’s explaining that the only possible
way to ethically eat meat would be consuming only in-vitro meat.:
http://www.nytimes.com/2012/05/06/magazine/the-ethicist-contest-winner-give-thanks-for-meat.html?_r=2&ref=magazine First of all, it's completely non-sense to try to explain why
eating meat is ethical because eating meat involves the killing of an
innocent sentient being against his/her will. This is simply
unethical. Secondly, I think it's important to realize that if people
are trying to find excuses to defend their omnivore diet, it is
because they feel uncomfortable and threatened. This is a sign that
deep down we all know that causing unnecessary harm and death to any
being goes against our very essence, which is one of love, compassion,
joy and peace. Note: Thank you to everyone who asked
about my weekend at the World Peace Diet Conference with Will and
Madeline Tuttle, and Judy Carman. It was simply FANTASTIC. I encourage
everyone to attend it next time!
