A new study by Consumer Reports indicates the appalling reality
of food safety. After testing 198 samples of raw grocery store pork
loins and ground pork, it found that 69 percent of the samples were
contaminated with Yersinia enterocolitica. What is even more
troubling is that these bacteria are resistant to most common
antibiotics due to the overuse of antibiotics in factory farmed
animals.

What can be expected of an industry that seemingly only
cares about profit and not the safety of their products? And why
should any Christian support an industry that abuses God’s animals
and puts their consumers at risk? Christians are called to be
mindful, loving and compassionate. Our choics of diet invariably
puts our faith and actions through a test. If our choice of diet is
not aligned with our values and beliefs then sadly we are not living
out the faith of Christ.
