1. Activist Feedback
Ginger Carter at the Morgan County Fair in Alabama writes: Thank you for sending the materials for this event. The Fair organizers were kind enough to allow me to have an indoor exhibit table this year, so I was able to keep the table set up with the materials available, even at the times when I couldn't be there. In total, probably about a box full of pamphlets were distributed. I am going to create events myself, such as after-church distributions, so that I can distribute all the pamphlets that you sent.

Sue, leafleting at Women of Faith in San Jose, writes: I wore my Sunday Best, but I got off to a slow start, trying different opening lines before settling on "Compassion for Animals." I was beginning to think it was going to be a long night, when I realized the women thought I was with the guy behind me who had a sign that read, "WOF Will Go Straight to Hell!" As soon as I figured this out, I started saying, "I'm not with him. Compassion for animals." This got a lot of laughs and all of a sudden they were lining up waiting for leaflets like Halloween candy. Not the ideal college demographic, but a good night nonetheless.

2. Thanksgiving Leafleting
A lot of people attend churches on Thanksgiving weekend. It’s a great opportunity to introduce people to the CVA’s ministry. We emphasize that we do not leaflet on private church property without permission, but we encourage leafleting on public property. If interested, please contact the CVA at cva@christianveg.org..

3. October Issue of The Peaceable Table
Contents include: * The Editorial, "There . . . Go I," suggests that the widespread human inclination to blame the victim may have a significant part in people's resistance to the message of compassion for farmed animals. * The Book Review-Essay finds a theme of animal liberation in the Harry Potter stories. * One of Angela's Recipes is for Black Bean and Brown Rice Burgers-- a solid and tasty entrée. * The October Pioneer is Anna Sewell, whose one book, BLACK BEAUTY, has sold thirty million copies and been in print for 130 years spreading the word that horses are sensitive beings with a rich psychological life.

4. More Responses to “I love meat”
“Those were my thoughts at first, then quickly realized that a plant diet is fantastic, and that I love animals and don’t want to eat them."
- Alice

"I loved meat too. And, I am now a vegetarian."
-Daniel Salomon, n/OEF

"I love meat too. That's why I enjoy the many mock meats available at Whole Foods."

"I love meat too -- but I love live animals even more, so it was painless to make the transition to plant-based fare. The soy products that imitate meat taste, look, and feel just like the real deal. To tell you the truth, I now enjoy eating mock meats more than I ever did animal flesh. You should see the wide selection in the refrigerated and frozen sections at Whole Foods."

"Personally I love the taste of "meat" too. But I decided for myself a long time ago that it was not about my likes and dislikes at all."

"It is about obeying Gods plan to be kind and not harm any of His creatures. Animal factory farming, not only is harming Gods creatures, but it does so in the most heinous and cruelest of ways."

"It is about caring for my health."

"It is about the well-being of the planet, & human kind."

"As far as my liking "meat", with so many amazingly delicious "meat" substitutes, and the huge array of other healthy foods...I do not miss it at all."

"Humans can be perfectly healthy on a vegan diet (as evidenced by all the thriving vegans in the world). So why should an animal suffer and die simply to satisfy your taste preferences?"
