1. Please Begin or Renew Annual Membership

There is no charge for receiving the weekly CVA e-newsletter, but our ministry depends on the contributions of our members, primarily for printing and distributing our booklets at Christian concerts, revivals, and other events. Please donate at http://christianveg.org/freemembership_level.htm

2. A position state of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics on vegetarian diets was recently released. It concludes:

It is the position of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics that appropriately planned vegetarian, including vegan, diets are healthful, nutritionally adequate, and may provide health benefits in the prevention and treatment of certain diseases. These diets are appropriate for all stages of the life cycle, including pregnancy, lactation, infancy, childhood, adolescence, older adulthood, and for athletes. Plant-based diets are more environmentally sustainable than diets rich in animal products because they use fewer natural resources and are associated with much less environmental damage.

For a complete PDF of the article, visit Position of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics: Vegetarian Diets.

Comment: This is an important statement for a well-established, respected academic organization.

3. Activist Feedback

Grace, who leafleted with Houston at Winter Jam in Tacoma on November 19, writes:

The winter Jam concert leafleting was successful.I handed about 900 booklets and Houston handed out approximately 250.

I received great support from concert goers. I first approach people with welcoming words like thanks for coming, please take this booklet on a compassionate healthy diet and helping the environment. Most people took it delightfully and read it while waiting in line. When someone immediately said, "Oh so cute" after seeing the front coverage of lamb then I thought they were animal lovers and I told them I am a Christian animal advocate.Their typical reaction was, "Thanks for all you do and I respect you for doing this in this cold weather."Those simple, kind words made my day. There were many many high school students and young adults – a perfect target population to increase awareness of veganism since they are more willing to hear about it. of course i give out leaflets to 16 over who are old enough to make their own food choice.

It was great overall until we were interrupted by an extreme Christian religious group with signs "repent your sin, oryou will go to Hell."One of them asked for a booklet and she immediately start saying we are deceiving people with a false information.I kindly said we can discuss it later and walked away from her.

I plan to use the remaining CVA leaflets for a local Christian Christmas concert.
