Dear Dana:

As a follow up to our answer to you yesterday, we thought that we should further address your comments about the validity of the Hebrew Bible prior to the time of Ezra. When in fact, it could be the reverse, when it comes to animal sacrifice.

We need to realize that parts of the Bible were written at different times and with different language codes for all over the Middle East,  stretching from Babylon to Egypt. There were also four different writing period of the first 5 books of the Bible: the oldest are the Yahwist, followed by the Elohist, who were followed by the Deuteronomist, and finally by the Priestly writers at the time of Ezra.

The problem that we have is that all of the sacrificial entries about God requiring them in the Bible, were written by the Priestly writers, and are totally missing in the earliest writings. This is one of the reasons why we are saying that it was clearly not God's creation and heavenly intent to have any killing or animal sacrifices.

We hope this helps.

In the Love of the Lord,

Frank and Mary
