We have been thinking about having a table at whatever Christian events we can to help create awareness to the issues of animal suffering and stewardship that most Christians never give thought to.
Any thoughts on good events that allow participants to have a table at would be welcome. We cannot travel far from FL. Our church from the Chicago area holds conferences 2-3 times a year, we are going to try to table there.
The Methodist Denomination takes the strongest stance on animals, creation and animal welfare, yet there is no obvious action being taken to implement their position especially on a congregational level. I really believe that if enough of us started to question this and became active, we could make a difference.
Frank might have some insight. I know they set policy at regional meetings and have bishops assigned to regions.
Frank, how accessible are the bishops and have you had any success?
I'll send the link to their official statements shortly for all to read.
Some of Wesley's sermons on creation and animals are very powerful, he clearly believed that animals had immortal souls and they will be in heaven.
We really have to find ways to influence other Christians and help move them in the right direction. Sometimes, the health message may be the best one to pursue as HAcres has.
God Bless,
Elaine
