Citation: At 0830 while performing operational sanitation I observed that the compressor room across from the inspection office has equipment stored on the floor off racks. This makes it difficult to observe hidden areas for pest infestation. Regulation 416.2(a) Grounds and pest control. States: The grounds about an establishment must be maintained to prevent conditions that could lead to insanitary conditions, adulteration of product, or interfere with inspection by FSIS program employees. Mr. was notified of these findings at the time of observation and through this written notice. Failure to take corrective action may lead to further regulatory action. A review of past NR's did not indicate a past history of noncompliance in this area of concern.

Regulation:

416.2(a) Grounds and pest control. The grounds about an establishment must be maintained to prevent conditions that could lead to insanitary conditions, adulteration of product, or interfere with inspection by FSIS program employees. Establishments must have in place a pest management program to prevent the harborage and breeding of pests on the grounds and within establishment facilities. Pest control substances used must be safe and effective under the conditions of use and not be applied or stored in a manner that will result in the adulteration of product or the creation of insanitary conditions.
