USDA Inspection Report: 26 May 2011

Code: 06D01
Violation:  416.2(b)(3)

Citation: While entering the kill floor @ approximately 7:20 AM, after conducting a 01B01 on the processing room, I noticed sunlight coming through the bottom of the overhead door located on the eastern wall of the kill floor. Upon further examination I concluded the door seal had been damaged and or worn out. this situation could facilitate the entrance of vermin, a violation of 9cfr 416.2(b)3. I then verbally discussed the situation with plant owner Larry Brannon and took a regulatory control action by placing U.S. rejected tag #222756 on said door, awaiting the repair. Larry then stated he would repair the seal as soon as possible

Regulation:

416.2(b)(3) Walls, floors, ceilings, doors, windows, and other outside openings must be constructed and maintained to prevent the entrance of vermin, such as flies, rats, and mice.
