Violation:  416.4(a), 416.4(b), 416.4(d)

Citation: At 1300 hrs I observed the following non-compliance: the ice machine, on the right hand side of the ice room when facing the wall, had a black piece of debris approximatley 3/4 cm in length on the ice inside. Additionally, upon opening up the top cabinet, there was flaking and chipping silver paint. Ice is a product contact surface as it comes into direct contact with product. Additionally, the ice machine on the opposite side of the wall had a ring of mildew approximatley 1 cm in diameter along the top ceiling of the inside of the machine. Plant management was immediately notified and the ice machine was rejected with US Rejected Tag No. B38033475.

Regulation:

416.4(a) All food-contact surfaces, including food-contact surfaces of utensils and equipment, must be cleaned and sanitized as frequently as necessary to prevent the creation of insanitary conditions and the adulteration of product.

416.4(b) Non-food-contact surfaces of facilities, equipment, and utensils used in the operation of the establishment must be cleaned and sanitized as frequently as necessary to prevent the creation of insanitary conditions and the adulteration of product.

416.4(d) Product must be protected from adulteration during processing, handling, storage, loading, and unloading at and during transportation from official establishments
