USDA Inspection Report: 2 Feb 2012

Code: 01D01
Violation: 416.2(a)

Citation: On 02/02/2012 at approximately 1100 as I was performing the SPS verification task I observed the following noncompliance. Outside of the barrel room there are several pieces of metal roofing leaning against the exterior wall allowing an area for rodents to run and nest along the wall. Also outside the loading dock there are several pieces of plywood leaning against the exterior wall outside the entrance doors allowing leaves to accumulate and providing a place for rodents to hide in the leaves. I checked the SSOP records and no entry was found for this noncompliance, I then notified Mr. [redacted] of this noncompliance both orally and in writing with this NR.

416.2(a) Grounds and pest control. The grounds about an establishment must be maintained to prevent conditions that could lead to insanitary conditions, adulteration of product, or interfere with inspection by FSIS program employees. Establishments must have in place a pest management program to prevent the harborage and breeding of pests on the grounds and within establishment facilities. Pest control substances used must be safe and effective under the conditions of use and not be applied or stored in a manner that will result in the adulteration of product or the creation of insanitary conditions.
