USDA Inspection Report: 25 Apr 2011

Code: 06D01
Violation: 416.2(e)(2)

Citation: On April 25, 2011, at approximately 0830 hours while performing a unscheduled 06D01 task, Inspector [redacted] found the following non-Compliance: In the barn, in the first two holding pens, there was standing water on the floor from a drain that was plugged. The water was not covering the whole pen, just approximately two feet in circumference around the drain. There were hogs in these pens. There was still enough room for the hogs to lie comfortably without being in the water. Inspector [redacted] notified plant employee [redacted] of this Non-Compliance. He immediately removed the animals to a dry pen. When plant owner, Jim Wright, arrived at approximately 0850, the plugged drained was cleared and the water went down. The floors in the pens were hosed off and the animals were returned. This is in violation of 9 cfr 416.2(e)(2) which states: Plumbing systems must be installed and maintained to properly convey sewage and liquid disposable waste from the establishment. The establishment was notified verbally and in writing of this NR of the Non-Compliance. The establishment was also advised of their right to appeal this decision delineated by 9 CFR 306.5.

Regulation:

416.2(e)(2) Properly convey sewage and liquid disposable waste from the establishment
