Citation: At approximately 0900 on 7-14-2011 while performing an unscheduled task of 06D01, the following noncompliance was observed. While walking around the outside premises of the establishment the grass and weeds are over grown and standing at approximately one foot in height. The weeds are like this on the east, and west side of the establishment .I immediately notified Mr. [redacted] of these conditions orally and in writing. This is in violation with regulatory requirements 416.2(a), Establishment grounds and facilities. Grounds and pest control. The grounds about an establishment must be maintained to prevent conditions that could lead to insanitary conditions, adulterations of product, or interfere with inspection by FSIS program employees. Establishments must have in place a pest management program to prevent the harborage and breeding of pests on the grounds and within establishment facilites.Pest control substances used must be safe and effective under the conditions of use and not be applied or stored in manner that will result in the adulteration of product or the creation of insanitary conditions. After further inspection it was noticed that rodent traps are in place around the establishment. I then checked for similar NR's and found none in the last 90 days .This document server as written notification that failure to comply with regulatory requirements could result in additional regulatory or administrative actions.Mr. [redacted] is also advised of his right to appeal this decision as delineated by 9CFR 306.5
