Citation: On Thursday 03/29/2012, the following was observed on the slaughter floor during slaughter operations: The door entering the slaughter area has several areas of loose and peeling paint. The loose and peeling paint is located in various areas from the top of the door to the bottom of the door. Also, the chaulking around the door frame on this same door is cracked, loose, and no longer adhereing to all of the surfaces. These items are present on the slaughter floor side of the door. No product was involved and no regulatory control action was taken. I notified [redacted] of these observations. This is noncompliance with regulation CFR 9 416.2(b)(1)


416.2(b)(1) Construction. Establishment buildings, including their structures, rooms, and compartments must be of sound construction, be kept in good repair, and be of sufficient size to allow for processing, handling, and storage of product in a manner that does not result in product adulteration or the creation of insanitary conditions.
