USDA Inspection Report: 3 Dec 2010

Code: 06D01
Violation: 416.1, 416.4(b)

Citation: At approximately 0815 hours while performing unscheduled ISP code 06D01 in the downstairs dry storage areas I observed the following non compliances. There is an accumulation of used empty boxes strewn about the area. There is a empty plastic jug and scrub brush on the floor next to the filing cabinet. There are 2 boxes of empty glass jars stored on the shelf. In the garage storage area near the packaging room I observed the following non compliances. There is an accumulation of dirt, debris, empty boxes, cardboard, and plastic wrapping on the floor. There are several shipping containers and 3 boxes of chemicals stored directly on the floor. There is a pile of old wood stored in the corner. There are numerous open boxes of labels, spices, and packaging material stored on the shelves. There is a general disorganization of the area making it difficult to perform a proper pest inspection of the area. A check of the daily SSOP found that these deficiencies were not documented. This is a violation of FSIS regulations 416.1 and 416.4(b). No tag applied. No product directly involved. I notified Mr. orally and in writing with this NR of the non compliance.

Regulation:

416.1 Each official establishment must be operated and maintained in a manner sufficient to prevent the creation of insanitary conditions and to ensure that product is not adulterated.

416.4(b) Non-food-contact surfaces of facilities, equipment, and utensils used in the operation of the establishment must be cleaned and sanitized as frequently as necessary to prevent the creation of insanitary conditions and the adulteration of product.
