Putting Glass Walls on Pennsylvania Slaughterhouses So We Can See Behind Closed Doors from FAUN Friends Of Animals United
Eberly Poultry

Address: 1095 Mt. Airy Rd, Stevens, PA 17578
Establishment No.: p09965

USDA Inspection Report: 11 Nov 2011

Code: 01B02
Violation: 416.13(a), 416.4(a)

Citation: At approximately 0700 hours while conducting an 01B02 procedure I observed a build up of adhesive on the outside surface of the short side of grey product lugs. The amount of adhesive varied on different lugs but ranged in size from 8 by 4 cm to smaller. The adhesive could be physically removed in some cases and others was recognized by the sticky feel to the side of the tote. These totes are nested so that the inside surface of the lugs are in direct contact with the adhesive. The inside surfaces of the lugs are direct product contact surfaces as liners are not consistently used when product is in these lugs. Mr. [redacted] QC; Mr. [redacted] HACCP, and Ms. [redacted] QC, were all shown the non-compliance. Regulatory control tag, tag number B34802790 was placed on approximately 50 plastic lugs. The establishment is not complying with 9CFR 416.13(a) and 416.4(a). Past Similar NRs - Previous Ineffective Plant Actions: Failure to effectively monitor food contact surfaces. NR: 49-2011 dated 10/25/2011

416.13(a) Each official establishment shall conduct the pre-operational procedures in the Sanitation SOPís before the start of operations.

416.4(a) All food-contact surfaces, including food-contact surfaces of utensils and equipment, must be cleaned and sanitized as frequently as necessary to prevent the creation of insanitary conditions and the adulteration of product.
