Citation: At approximately 0830 on March 29th, 2012 while conducting a Poultry Zero Tolerance Verification, ten chickens were randomly selected to be reviewed for compliance by Dr. [redacted] While conducting the observation of the ten birds, one bird was identified with a yellow-green fecal material located along the right inner surface of the skin which previously covered the lower neck and upper chest. The fecal material contained a few granules of feed like material as well. The yellow-green fecal material was oblong in shape approximately one centimeter long and three centimeters wide, and located along the meeting of the skin fat tissue.
Mr. [redacted] Plant Manager, was verbally informed of the identified Poultry Zero Tolerance Verification failure. Regulatory control action was taken by placing US. Retained tags on the two chilling tanks currently in use from which this lot of birds were currently being placed after slaughter processing. The tanks which contained the retained product were chill tank 19 and chill tank 6. Chill tank 19 had the tag B24033399 placed on it while chill tank 6 had tag B24033398 placed on it to retain the product.
The establishment is not complying with 9CFR 381.65(e).


381.65(e) Poultry carcasses contaminated with visible fecal material shall be prevented from entering the chilling tank.
