Violation: 416.1, 416.2(b)(1), 416.4(d)

Citation: At approximately 0530, I found the following SPS noncompliance's: [newline]1. In the H-1 freezer I observed an excessive amount of ice build-up on the cooling unit. The ice formation appeared to be 1” to 2 “inches thick, also observed were icicles hanging from the unit. I informed Ms. (HACCP/QA Supervisor) and also showed her this area. When reviewing the plants paperwork for this area there was no mention of this noncompliance. [newline]2. The air curtains that are in the doorway between the H-1 and H-2 freezers are dirty and torn. I also showed this to [newline]3. At 0630 I observed two broken light covers. One was located at the entrance of the multi-purpose room and the other was located at the entrance of the Poss room. I informed (QA Tech). The above are a violation of 9CFR 416.2(b)(1), 416.4(d) and your SPS plan.[newline] [newline]CSI) found the following noncompliance: At approximately 1130 hours, I also observed one of the pipes above the turkey line with peeling paint and rust, inside the picking room between the hock cutter and picking machine. I informed Mr. ( 1st Processing Superintendent). This is a violation of 9CFR 416.2(b)(1) and your SPS plan.

Regulation:

416.1 Each official establishment must be operated and maintained in a manner sufficient to prevent the creation of insanitary conditions and to ensure that product is not adulterated.

416.2(b)(1) Establishment buildings, including their structures, rooms, and compartments must be of sound construction, be kept in good repair, and be of sufficient size to allow for processing, handling, and storage of product in a manner that does not result in product adulteration or the creation of insanitary conditions.

416.4(d) Product must be protected from adulteration during processing, handling, storage, loading, and unloading at and during transportation from official establishments.
