Putting Glass Walls on Pennsylvania Slaughterhouses So We Can See Behind Closed Doors
Empire Kosher Poultry

Address: 1 River Rd, Juniata Cty, Mifflintown, PA 17059
Establishment No.: p1015

USDA Inspection Report: 25 Apr 2012

Code: 01D01
Violation: 416.2(b)(1)

Citation: Today at approximately 0655 while touring the Chill Pack Room, I observed the following SPS noncompliance:[newline]The door opening to the AB blast is covered with plastic due to ongoing construction. In investigating that this closure was completely sealed, I observed that the bottom left corner was not covered completely. This opening could allow for (dust/debris, etc.) to enter the chill pack production area; which could cause probable cross-contamination on production equipment and packaged (shrink wrap) products. I informed (QA Tech). This is a violation of 9CFR 416.2(b)(1) and your SPS Plan. A similar occurrence was recorded as mentioned in block 6a of this NR. You are hereby advised of your right to appeal this decision as delineated by 381.35 of 9 CFR.

416.2(b)(1) Establishment buildings, including their structures, rooms, and compartments must be of sound construction, be kept in good repair, and be of sufficient size to allow for processing, handling, and storage of product in a manner that does not result in product adulteration or the creation of insanitary conditions.
