Violation: 416.2(a)

Citation: On 03/15/11 at approximately 1 PM while performing PBIS task 06D01, I encountered the following noncompliance's: While performing the outside premises portion of this task I came across the employee entrance area which had several large pieces of plastic,paper,cups, etc. strewn about and caught in vegetation surrounding plant entrance. Also this entrance had an accumulation of cigarette butts on the ground in area surrounding employee picnic tables. Also in dock area of building there is a "storage" trailer parked in dock door area with broken pallets,wood pieces,paper and splinters totally covering the underside and surrounding area of this trailer. These findings are in violation of CFR 9 416.2(a). Failure to control and or eliminate these types of noncompliance's could result in further regulatory and or administrative actions.

Regulation:

416.2(a) The grounds about an establishment must be maintained to prevent conditions that could lead to insanitary conditions, adulteration of product, or interfere with inspection by FSIS program employees. Establishments must have in place a pest management program to prevent the harborage and breeding of pests on the grounds and within establishment facilities. Pest control substances used must be safe and effective under the conditions of use and not be applied or stored in a manner that will result in the adulteration of product or the creation of insanitary conditions.
