Why You Need Us A new study recently confirmed what we had
long suspected
half the contractors in the United States are below average!
Do it Now!
Most people wait until spring to
pursue their construction dreams. Don't do it! If you're contemplating a construction
project with a Spring or Summer 2000 construction start, now is the time to dig-in (with
the paperwork, that is). This leaves the fall and winter for site selection, feasibility
studies, design, financing, regulatory applications, competitive bidding, etc. - all of
which are non-construction items that can be performed in inclement weather. And remember
-we offer assistance in all of the above (and much more) as part of our pre-construction
services.
Raindrops
Keep Falling on My Head
The umbrella is one of history's
oldest artifacts and has been around as long as the written word. Ancient civilizations
not only used it as protection against rain and sun, but also as a ceremonial religious
item. Egyptian priests and pharaohs were portrayed in the shade of an umbrella to signify
power. Greeks saw umbrellas as signs of productivity and prowess and carried them in
parades
Tips
for an Effective Web Site
Whether you create your own web site
in-house or use a professional designer, here are a few things to keep in mind
Keep
it simple. The best pages are organized and uncluttered.
- Avoid elaborate graphics in the
background or large images.
- Display who you are, what you do, and
how to get more information.
- Give your address and phone number.
Some people prefer these to e-mail.
- Make it easy to contact a person, or
provide a link to an instant e-mail form.
- Content should include the firm's
specialties and capabilities, location, key people, and project photos and descriptions.
- Have articles, news stories, and
recent news releases to extend your public relations efforts.
- Every additional page should have
your firm's name and a link back to your home page.
- If one of your pages is still in
development, warn visitors so they won't waste time.
- Update information by adding new
items from time to time.
- Promote the page in directories, in
other browsers, and in search engines.
- Promote your page through traditional
print media. Have your internet address on your business cards, in your brochures, news
releases, articles, technical papers, and all advertising.
Bet
You Didn't Know
- Barbie's full name is Barbra
Millicent Roberts.
- A quarter has 119 grooves on its

- The average person consumes 600 sodas
per year.
- Fortune cookies were invented in the
U.S. by Charles Jung in 1918.
- A hippo can open its mouth wide
enough to fit a 4-foot child inside.

Off to another project - Corporation
president (hence the name) Frank L. Hoffman really racks up the miles in a Beechcraft
Bonanza V35B. Travelling at 180 knots (roughly 210 mph), this plane's quite an upgrade
from N67WA, a Piper Cherokee 140 we sold last year.
Forget
Hindsight
Get Insight! We've all
heard the saying that hindsight is always 20/20. It's a catchy way of saying that you
won't make the same mistake(s) next time. In the construction business, mistakes cost
money. They take time to correct and (someone call the clich police) time is money. As
an owner, you're the one who (unfortunately) picks up the tab. You can minimize both time
and money on your next project by ensuring that you team with a firm that is experienced
in healthcare facility construction and renovation. We offer more than 36 years of
continuous healthcare-specific construction experience. Show some insight
give F. L.
Hoffman Corporation a call.
Time
Wasters
In the age of time
management, it's almost bizarre that we could still waste time and resources. Here are
ways we do:
- Executives waste the equivalent of
approximately six weeks a year trying to find things.
- Businesspeople have up to 170
interactions each day, through phone calls, e-mail or hallway conversations.
Even though the 90's
marked the arrival of the paperless workplace, office paper use has risen by 66%.
Maximizing
Potential
The building
construction process is most productive when a qualified Construction Manager provides a
complete and efficient building service from the start of a project until its completion.
From code review and preliminary design in conjunction with the project architect, through
building construction, each aspect of the project is planned and managed to deliver a
cost-effective and time-efficient project that satisfies the quality needs of the owner.
The CM-Advisor approach offers all of these advantanges and more. Simply hiring the
"lowest bidder" on a set of completed plans limites 1) owner input regarding
alternate methods and materials; 2) code compliance reviews; 3) owners ability to select
known and trusted contractors and/or suppliers for selected portions of the work; and 4)
the ability to determine feasibility until the after design is finalized.
